when did this problem start?

so just to clarify it only posts when you have one stick of ram installed?

that means either your RAM slot is defective OR your RAM stick is defective.

try each ram stick in every slot to diagnose which one is the problem

ex/

try one 8gb stick in slot every ram slot and boot each time (so in total you will try 4 times to boot)

then do the same to the second ram stick (and try to boot 4 times again)

Could be a number of things

But I wouldn't be surprised if you have a bad stick of ram.

Have you tried running one stick in various different slots,

Make sure to blow the dust out of the ram slots.

and if one stick doesn't work doing this, try others in different slots.

I would make sure its dust free when you do it, and it doesnt hurt to pull a stick of ram from another machine and try it out on this one (assuming its the type like ddr 3 or ddr4 etc)
