What dose Memory Channel mean

Go to solution Solved by MadModder,

Dual Channel Memory allows for a faster data transfer rate between the RAM, and the Memory Controller (CPU). On a motherboard with only two ram slots, one slot will use one channel, and the other slot will use the other channel. If the Motherboard has four ram slots, one channel will use two slots (A1 and A2), and the second channel will use the other two slots (B1 and B2).

I was looking at Intel processes and I decided with an I7 7700K. Under memory channels it sed two, does that means it only works with two sticks of ram? Because if so then I can go with a cheaper motherboard that supports only two.

im pretty sure it means it can access two sticks of memory simultaneously, but there can be up to 4 sticks all together

138 is a good number.

Don't get the 7700K either way, an 8600K beats it in gaming.

Doesn't really matter anymore either way

Best Excuses:

#1(simple) "Well, I never liked that stupid thing anyway!"

#2(complex) "Obviously there was a flaw in the material, probably due to the inadvertent introduction of contaminants during the manufacturing process."
