Do you need PS Plus to play Overwatch?

Pretty straight forward question.

 

I have OW on pc, but I really want to play OW with a friend of mine. He's also into pc gaming but doesn't know how to use mouse and keyboard, even after 2+ years. So I tell him he should get the game on ps4 then.

 

I'm debating on getting the game on ps4 and for him as well just so we could play together.

 

I don't have PS Plus though and neither does he. I refuse to pay to play online. I hear some online games on PS4 you can play without membership

Yes you need ps plus for overwatch.

you do. you can create a new ps account and get a new trial every 2 weeks as a workaround but that can be a nuisance.

No. For starters he doesn't even own OW. although I guess could just download it and play it on my account I guess.

 

But I forbid him from playing online fps' with a controller
