New build CPU temp spiking at idle.

danforz

All,

I switched by Thermaltake Ring Plus (selling it soon here) for Corsair H115i so that my whole cooling ecosystem could be Corsair. I also overclocked my 8700k to 4.5ghz and it is at 1.28v. I have 6 maglev fans in push pull on the AIO, and 7LL fans and 1 additional mag lev fan all pulling air in. The fans are currently set to performance mode.

At idle, the thing goes anywhere from 38c to 68c. Temperatures tend to come in spikes. When I stress test it, I instantly lose control over my computer (the mouse becomes difficult to control) and my apps stop updating temps (so I did a hard shut down to avoid potential damage).

What do you think? I think maybe my AIO pump isn't properly situated.

Daniel

Pump plugged in? Did you remove the plastic on the block if there was any? Is it mounted correctly? Sounds like bad heat transfer to me

first check that the pump is plugged in and running, if it is then do a remount

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I don't see any issues in corsair link. What am I looking for?

Pump noise, or like touch the block and see if it vibrates or makes sound

Either way, you should remount the CPU cooler and redo your thermal paste.
