Hello all, I recently purchased Rockitcool's copper IHS. Before I bought it, I couldn't find any actual reviews of it, so I did my own. Here's my writeup on it: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CNf77h7nBUFajbi5MaqPoBRuVrzVD2qBLydWKsv8xPE/edit?usp=sharing

Let me know what you think.

Thanks much,

James

sure, at $20 its not that bad tbh

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

it's a misconception that the limiter on the stock configuration is the TIM when it's actually the thickness of the silicon sealant. next time test that yourself. delid remove the silicon on either the substrate or the IHS side (reducing the thickness by half more or less) and put it back together and you'll see your temps drop almost just as much as for everything else you've done here. and yeah this copper fully custom one is mostly banking on the delid hypetrain more than any real usefulness. even if it does full 7C drop you'll hit silicon limitations for a usable overclock before that with the original simple delid and you've lost almost 100% resale potential because most buyers won't trust something you've tampered with that much (I personally value reselling my hardware highly because it negates a very big chunk of the original cost of building the system eventually). they mention lapping in their page, but that's something you straight up shouldn't do so it's a whole lot of bull... copper is copper and i don't, see how they could measure a 15% increase? so it's feel like allot of marketing and appeal to a crowed looking for a problem to fix not fixing a problem anybody has.

(edit) yeah you negate silicon thickness by using superglue.

I also have serious grippes about your testing methodology... 5min? on a watercooler? a single pass? yeah no, your number or virtually meaningless.

i wouldn't call it a complete waste of money honestly because you are getting a pure copper item... which is practically worth more than it's weight in gold soooo yeah. it's 20$ have a blast with it.

you want the real best cooling? you'll need to make your own cold-plate to go direct die cooling... yeah no i'm not really kidding... good luck have fun.
