CPU price to performance list

Hey, this is my understanding of the currently available new CPUs. Please correct me if you feel something is wrong

 

Best $40-60 CPU: G4400

Best $60-80 CPU: G4560

Best $100-120 CPU: i3 8100

Best $200-220 CPU: ryzen 5 1600/1600x

Best $320-370 CPU: i7 8700/8700k

Best $500-550 Cpu: Threadripper 1900x/7820X ( not sure! first I thought TR would be better but then 7820X looks better)

Best $1000 Cpu: i9 7900X

That looks about right, although the Ryzen 5 1600 is better value than the 1600X, so I would remove it from the list.

$230-$250 range is ryzen 1700. In US anyways

How is Best defined?  The 1900X has the same cores as a 1700 right?  Do the PCI lanes give it the advantage in your book?

Yes if you are going for video editing/streaming TR seems better to me. Though I'm not completely sure from $350 onwards. All of this info is from watching videos.

Over 2k also I don't have much idea about xeons.

Second hand they are much cheaper, talking low $100's

I'm currently using a Xeon sandy bridge(E3-1230) on my dedicated server and they do work great for large tasks. I do think their single core score is not that great. BTW, The list on only for new CPUs.

It's $280 AFAIK [1] and then it isn't far from the better performing 8700.

Single core for a 1680 v3 is about as good as a skylake i7

unable to find it below $600. But, you are correct 1680 v3 is almost same in single core vis a vis 6700

It can OC to the same ceiling as well, while being an octa core. Even for 600 bucks it's a pretty good deal.
