I've built with both the i7 7700K and the R5 1600. Both are very good, but the 7700K will beat the 1600 in gaming any day, but the $80 price difference between the two make the 1600 seem like a better deal, and the B350/X370 motherboards are cheaper than most Z270s (don't choose the A320). Personally, I'd choose the R5 1600, but if you really want that better gaming performance and overclockability, choose the 7700K.

It's only better in gaming at 1080p with very high end gpu tho

Hi I was wondering which deal I should go with a i7 7700k priced at $200 or a Ryzen 1600 priced at $120? Thanks

Remember that in like 2 Weeks or so the smaller newer Ryzen 2000 APU (QUad Cores) come out and in April the Rest of the Ryzen 2000 series.

But the i7-7700K is just a 4 Core CPU, don't buy that.

And that's why I recommended and would personally choose the 1600.

The APUs are basically the Ryzen 3 1200 and Ryzen 5 1400 with some Vega compute cores attached. The 1600, especially for only $120 is a great deal, assuming the buyer already has a graphics card or is going to get one.

R5 1600: $180-200 6C/12T

7700K: $250 4C/8T

Pros for R5 1600

> More cores for editing/rendering and games

> 4-year support on Am4

Pros for 7700K

> Faster per core speed

> integrated GPU

> No future upgrade options unless you replace the mobo

Which one should you buy?

According to userbenchmarks, 7700k is 20% faster than R5 1600. So, if you can buy 7700k for <=$240, go with that else R5 is superb.
