To be honest, since I need the PC for work (for tomorrow morning and it's night now where I live) I just went to the local store and asked for a 1000W, which they did not have and the only one they did have in stock is a Corsair CX750M Bronze.

What do you think? My old PSU was 3.5 years old.

The CX750M will be fine. Make sure it's got gray sticker so you get the latest revision. But even the older one is decent enough to get my blessing.

Hi,

Today my computer surprisingly powered off with no strange signs.

I powered it on and there was no display output and not even light on the Corsair AIO.

I realized something has probably happened to the PSU so I unplugged the 24pins connector and found 2 burnt pins, including the plastic around them.

Now, a very important thing I should mention is that I was mining with both of my GTX 1080 and my RX 580. With the GTX 1080 utilizing about 70% of its power.

I had a Seasonic Silver 750W and was thinking, is this not enough for such use? Will another 750W PSU do fine? and if so, will any 750W PSU will do?

Thanks.

Hey! Are the burnt pins on the ATX connector that you plug into the motherboard? Or are they on the PSU on a modular connector?

Look for burns on your motherboard as well.

Seasonic makes pretty good products and there's a chance that you might still have your PSU under warranty. How long ago did you buy it?

Also can we get the exact model number for this PSU?

Cheers!

Whats your CPU? I would think that you could probably get away with that PSU for the cards but maybe it was just too hard of a sustained load? If the pins are burnt I wouldn't be surprised if other parts of your PC weren't damaged with the PSU dying.

What I figure is that perhaps the PSU had dust collected inside or some other circumstance caused a very high temperature. Since it's not a model I know the PSU might not have OTP

Edit: if the burns were on the side of the motherboard, then it sounds more like a short circuit

SS750HT.

The cable was burnt. The PSU cable that is connected to the 24pins on the motherborad.

As far as I can tell, the motherboard was not damaged.

This is not a modular PSU.

Once again, should a 750W PSU be enough for such usage?

A new 750W will be enough. But be weary of buying a bad 750W that'll die on you the first time you load it rather than after a long time (your PSU's probably at least 5 years old, yes?).

If there's no motherboard damage then hopefully you can just get a new one and continue your way.

Do you have online stores I can browse so I can point you to the best value?

Yup. Its got the gray sticker. I have tested the PC and it seems like only my old PSU died. Mobo seems fine as well as all of the other components.

Thank you so much!
