I have the oppurtunity to get my hands onto a 960 Evo 500 GB for 193 euros or a 850 Evo 1TB for 240 euros.

Is the higher speed but lower capacity of the 960 Evo worth it over the lower speed but higher capacity of the 850 Evo. I already own an 840 Evo 250GB and WD Black 1TB HDD.

Both these drives would be used for OS installation together with programs and games.

Thanks for the advice,

Evexium

personally i'd get the 1tb 850, it's already fast enough, and double the capacity. but do you need capacity?

It depends on whether you want more speed or storage I guess. Do you have a problem with your drives being full all the time?

depends on what it's being used for. if it's for your steam library... no, NVMe (960 Evo) is absolutely not worth it.

You only need NVMe drives for very specific workstation purposes, so go with the 1TB 850 Evo. I have one, and it's a blessing.

Asus X99-A w/ BIOS 3402 | Intel i7 5820k OC @4.4GHz 1.28V w/ Noctua NH-U14S | 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 OC @2666MHz 12-14-14-28 | Asus Geforce GTX970 STRIX OC | EVGA 750 G2 750W | Samsung 850 Evo 1 TB | Windows 10 64-bit | Be-Quiet Silent Base 800 w/ Silent Wings | 2x Dell U2414H OC @72Hz w/ Display Port

Don't forget to invest in an Intel Tuning Plan if you're going to overvolt your K/X CPU

850 evo. The extra speed of the 960 evo won't benefit you but the double the capacity sure will.

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
