Pro: Cheap

Con: No warranty in the event it stops working.

Does it harm my computer?? What are the ways that a GPU can damage my system in any way (physical/software/etc)

I don't think it will. It's not like the PSU where it can short out the other components. You might get some performance bottlenecks if it is a really old GPU connected to newer parts.

Well, miners don't buy old used GPU's as they are not very power-efficient, which means their prices shouldn't be inflated. Also, even when graphics cards are at their normal prices, used still offers the best bang for the buck. There is the fact that they're used, however, performance degradation is not really a thing, the card either works or not, however if the card stops working, you will have no warranty. Although, you may overcome the fact that there's no warranty by buying with paypal, which offers a 6-month money back guarantee. Even without any warranty at all, I'd still buy it, as PC parts tend to be very durable.

cons used and abused hopefully not but most likely

they can have mods like aftermarket cooler or some crap usually they cover this up by having just a stock product photo

possibly a scam like a gtx 550ti that is made to look like a 960 or something

no warranty

weird returns depends on seller usually they wont take back returns as is kind of deals

pros lower price better selection usually if your looking for a specific dinosaur card they will have certain listing just full of options from different brands and stuff

return policies can vary but use them to your advantage if you have too they can help you if you get shafted

in the end the cons imo always beat out the pros in most cases its kind of like the lottery be careful.

1) Mining increases demand on new GPU prices.
2) More consumers driven away from new purchases look at used options.

3) More shoppers for used GPUs drive up used GPU market.

CAPITALISM! :D

Well, that's true, but still, it will be WAY cheaper to get a decent used graphics card than a decent new card (if you can find them at a good price). But yeah, I get your point. :)

Governments and institutions go after crypto currency miners to regain control and stabilize their markets.

Used GPUs are dumped on the market.
GPU manufactures see a huge drop in profits due to sudden reduce in demand and large numbers of returns.

GPU manufactures lose the ability due to huge drop in profit to produce update drivers and implement API support for games and apps.
Crypto currency associates put on trial for corruption, subversion, wasting electricity and tax ( evasion and manipulation ).

This is how I see the future based on a number of articles I have already posted links in other similar debates.

So old GPUs are like 50%-50%. So, why not buy new one??? I will not use my GPU for mining or any thing, I power a 1080p display, I use it in gaming only.

Depends on your needs. I still use an old card to game everyday. Does just fine on 1080. I wouldn't go older then the 780 for the green team. Bought several used cards and ill prolly do it again.
