Can an Aluminum/Copper/Brass loop work with XT-1 Nuke Coolant?

Go to solution Solved by Skiiwee29,

Definitely not. No anti corrosive is 100% going to protect you from the mixed metal corrosion that will happen. Not worth the risk honestly.

Hi,

I'm wondering whether I can make a loop with a 240mm aluminum radiator, a 140mm copper radiator, 6 brass fittings, and two copper water blocks work without galvanic corrosion if I use some Mayhems XT-1 Nuke that I have laying around from another project.

I doubt that it would be corrosion free, and this is a loop that I want to have running for a long time, so probably no, but I just wanted to check anyway before I buy a copper radiator.

Thanks,

Alec

I don't know much about water cooling, but I would say no. Ask others before though.

I would have to agree, I don't think I could rest anyway if I knew I had a mixed metal aluminum/copper loop :P

I just worry about the aluminium Radiator.  I would like to see copper in that and then I say Run for it.  Brass and Copper will be ok, but grrr Aluminium worries me

Yeah, same here, the thought's quite unsettling.

I would say run it for a short time, and when funds are available replace the Radiator.  That way then you should be good to go to run that system for a year at a time with maintance each year to clean and replace the fluids
