But it said in the the CPU-Z its AMD Phenom II x4 and i found name Hexa in a Phenom II wiki its said it a 3 core prossesor and 1 core disable

Thats pretty odd, I also have a AMD Phenom II x4 955 rig around here as well and in CPU-Z it says 4 cores  4 threads. The AMD Phenom II x4 955 came out long before the AMD Phenom II x6 CPU's did, so there should not be any cores disabled or hidden cores for that matter. Are you sure you have AMD Phenom II x4 955? can you take a screen shoot of CPU-Z and post it on here?

i tought you have unlocked the cpu to 6 cores. most of 965 can do that,i donno about 955. so your cpu is quad only.its an old cpu and you should get a hd 7850.it will bottleneck that too in some new games.if you will upgrade in the future get a hd 7870/r9 270X

i dont find wiki a reliable source. but the "x4" means that it has 4 cores.

I.E Phenom II x6 = 6 cores, phenom II x4 = 4 cores, phenom II x3 = 3 cores

in bf3 multi the cpu is a bottleneck with a card like that for ex. and thats a 2 years old game

Nope, sorry have to correct you on this one bud. the old AMD Phenom II x4 955 rig I have here at home, has a HD7950 in it and if there is a bottleneck at all it is plain not noticeable and thats with games like BF4, Crysis 3, metro Last light and bioshock infinite all maxed out on the settings.

i had the cpu. bf3 multiplayer is the reason i upgraded .that was more than a year ago. gpu usage was like 60-70% and really inconsistent FPS. that my friend is a bottleneck.

even with assassins creed revelations or what was that, bottleneck and low fps

I upgraded as while, infect many times since. The 3570K, 3770K, 4670K, 3930K and the 3970X. I have two kids and a wife that love gaming. my son is the one that has my old AMD Phenom II x4 955 rig, he also play's BF3 mulitiplayer , I overclocked the 955 to 3.8Ghz and its been set that way for the past going on 4 years now, my son has experienced zero lag or bottlenecks since I gave him that PC. All he does is game on it and school work. The HD7950 is all around 10% faster then the GTX760 at stock.

well try it for yourself. open msi afterburner and look at gpu usage and fps.it plays it alright if you don`t care about it.

But see that what I do not understand. In every system no matter what you have as the configuration, there will always be a bottleneck ( one component or another will always be faster the the others ), but the point of a bottleneck it's self is if you actually notice it, then that becomes a problem. You just said it your self   "it plays it alright if you don`t care about it"   So, I'm guessing you are taking those little dips in afterburner and considering that the bottleneck even though it is not noticeable in game play, is a reason to upgrade. For me until I notice the system is having a hard time playing AAA title games, that PC will always stay in use.

For the OP to upgrade would be kind of rediculaus unless he just had the money to blow on new components, for an example like me or you, or any enthusiast that just loves upgrading every time something new comes out.

its no point in getting a gpu like 7950 or gtx 760 with that cpu if it won`t be utilised full.thats my point.the op can buy it but if it will run like a hd 7790/7850 why spend more. and i have seen on this forum ppl with phenom 2 x6 that started to see the age of the cpu . so yeah

The problem I have with what you just said is that if what you say is true, then why does CPUBoss say different?

I'm Using as an example.......... not necessarily GPU bottlenecking in general but all around as a platform. Because I know I'm getting a little off about what we are generally discussing.

Link: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-Phenom-II-X4-955-vs-AMD-FX-8350

Also here is a thread on the 955 upgrade to the 8350 on OCN

Link: http://www.overclock.net/t/1373018/amd-phenom-ii-x4-955-upgrade-to-amd-fx-8350-vishera-worth-it

No one really thinks its a good upgrade if just for gaming, now if you are doing stuff that would take advantage of all 8 cores, then yeah that would make since, such as video editing etc.

So if we go by what you are saying, then the FX 8350 is coming close to aging as well.

Note: I am saying that if someone is not an enthusiast and does not upgrade once a year or can not afford to upgrade once a year, is it really justifiable to upgrade if you already have a CPU that does gaming really well with high end GPU's ( maybe not the best but does get the job done and at playable fps) ? Because by the looks of the OP, he is not an enthusiast nor does it look like he upgrades at least once a year. For people like you and I, yes your advice is very well put and understandable but for this particular OP and GPU bottlenecking, not so much.

But just so you know, I also do get your point and what you are getting across.

please do not use cpuboss ,its trash. you can compare there the 5800K apu and the fx 6300 ,it would give similar scores. now the problem is the apu is a athlon x4 750K,with no L3 cache, the fx 6300 blows it away but acording to cpu boss they are about the same.lol what ? so its trash

and it doesn`t matter if he isn`t like you or me.what matters is that the gpu won`t be fully utilised so its a waste.

I find CPUBoss to be far is some places but unfair in others, but to be honest I personally feel that is pretty close considering that I have compared my i5-3570K rig to my 955 rig, Both of which do have the 7950 in them and while in multithreaded apps and how much snappier the 3570K is to the 955 when opening and closing applications etc.., in gaming I can not tell a big difference in performance on game play. Know I'm not saying that the FPS isn't higher on the 3570K rig but all in all if you did not have the utilities to look at while gaming and sat down and played both systems without knowing the hardware inside them or the fps, it would be very hard to tell which rig is what. But like what i said before, I do understand your side of things.

My Phenom II at 4.2ghz bottlenecked a single GTX 480.

A 2500k at stock had a 70% jump in framerate in Black Ops alone.
