Question about Steam Trading

Sometimes when I play a game, a trading card is added to my steam inventory. My question is, what is the use of these cards other than selling them off? These cards come from Games Like the Witcher, Metro Redux and DXMD

They are so you can make fun of your little brother for not having all the cool ones you have.

Nope, you can sell them for money though.

When you collect a set, you can craft a badge, increase your Steam lvl for which you can get more friends on the friends list (dumbest thing ever), get game specific emotes and backgrounds which you can sell/trade/use/transfer to gems.

Just be careful though. You are acting as a merchant on Steam for tax purposes. So if you process a certain amount of transactions or make a certain amount of money, Valve will have to send you a tax form that you have to file.

Thanks for the Tax warning. I'm still a student so I gotta remember that. I'm just selling them to get a small discount on the next steam sale purchase. Any place to find details about these taxes?
