If you had both drives unprotected and loose in your backpack, yes, it could cause harm if they knock into eachother. If they were properly packaged in bubble wrap or whatever, not really.

I put both into a paper pack then put that into a thick soft cloth then into my bag

in theory it could have harmed then, but just plug them in and see if they work. If yes, can't be too bad.

I can't tell you from probably thousands of km away if this what happend could have damaged it, sry - there's always a possibility that the incident caused damage, but as long as you don't try them, there's no it works or does not work. Only thing for sure, plugging them in and trying them out will cause not more harm than maybe, only maybe already existing.

well if you can access them via your os of choice, yes they will work. You could then try and run crystal disk info, and everythings green there, nothing to worry
