Why do Microsoft hide Control Panel in Windows 10

When Windows 10 first launched, it was pretty easy to get to Control Panel, but with the recent updates they have made it so you have to go through so many hoops to get there.

I don't want to go to Printers and Scanners, I want to go to Devices and Printers. Even if I type in 'Devices and Printers' in search, it brings up Printers and Scanners. Once I'm there I can go to the Control Panel version by clicking the small link in the top right.

It is the same with Network and Sharing Centre, I used to be able to right click on the network icon in the task bar and go straight to Network and Sharing Centre, but now I have to go to Network  Internet Settings, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link there.

I wouldn't be so bothered if I could just search for Control Panel but it only shows up about 10% of the time, or if 'Settings' actually worked

Right click the start menu button and hit control panel.

Control Panel is just a placeholder waiting to be replaced and removed from Windows. It's not supposed to be around anymore, they just haven't replaced all of it yet

If my knowledge has not failed me, in your title it should be "does" rather than "do".

 

That however, is not the point of this reply.  Microsoft seems to be working towards transitioning to the new settings window over control panel.  The settings window has not been fully implemented and thus they keep the control panel around but the things that can be easily done with the settings window are directed there.  As others have mentioned, it is still fairly easy to open the control panel via right clicking on the windows icon.

 

You can also search "control panel" in the windows menu > pin it to start > drag the icon from your start screen out to your desktop > you now have control panel on your desktop.

I always click  ctrl + r

type in control

and hit Enter

 

after first procedure, it takes only ctrl+r and clicking Enter

so it's kind of fastest way to get to the control panel

control panel is going nowhere, it will always exist because it is the "core application" per say, all Microsoft is doing is releasing a new UI for it to help noobs, but under this skin the former will always be there.

 

Since it seems you don't like the newer changes why not just get Classic Shell? It does makes things easier and it brings back the Windows Search Bar so if you want you can potentially kill process Cortana for good:

 

Sorry for being in Portuguese but it does do the job of showing it up good.

 

Windows 10 can be great as long as you don't let it lose its Win 7 roots.

I don't think it's there anymore. It was for sure, but it looks like they removed it. (Maybe it's just me?)

I haven't had that option since before the original Creators Update. It was replaced by a link to Settings

Believe it or not, I actually like the UI Windows 10 a lot, especially the Start Menu, which is great for touch screens.

I just showed that I have it, I am running the latest Windows revision, it only is a matter of knowing where to look.

No, you're showing a different menu in the screencap. It used to be in the menu you get by right-clicking the start menu icon.

I just type Control Panel in search bar and it pops up.

That only works for me about 10% of the time, the rest of the time it just searches it in Bing.

I gather you misunderstood my point. That is, I believe that it used to be in the menu that other guy mentioned and I pointed out it's not there any more. That is all I said.
