My old rig has a i7 920, 12GB DDR3 and 2 GTX 560 Ti in SLI, running in a 1920x1080 @ max 60Hz. What is frustrating me most is VRam. Should I upgrade the graphics card? If so, what would you recommend used / on a budget?

I'd like to be able to play AC Origins on it and other newer games.

Thanks in advance.

How much are you willing to spend? Truth be told for AC Origins you're looking at both CPU and GPU upgrade, the i7 920 has Really aged by now already.

Around €150 tops. 920 handles a boost of 2.93GHz, should handle medium requirements, no? To upgrade the CPU I'd have to upgrade the board as well at this point.

Well it has a considerable weaker IPC though it has the clocks but doesn't have the enough "instructions per clock" to handle the latest and greatest, AC Origins for instance does hammers down CPUs, although certainly upgrading the GPU first to something like a second hand GTX 980 would make the greater difference but do be aware of your CPU reaching its limits already.

The best I can find for my socket is a guy near me selling a Xeon X5570 for €15. Maybe it can make a little bit of a difference.

I mean that's just the professional grade of your mainstream CPU in a way... the performance won't be too different:

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-920-vs-Intel-Xeon-X5570/1981vsm12230

There is a bump, higher clocks and all... just don't know if worth the hassle or even he 15 euros, I'd stick looking first for a good deal on the video card department and then study a platform upgrade for the next upgrade down the road, the i7 920 will still be powerful enough to show you the gains over the fairly outdated GTX 560 Ti 2way sli... invest all your money on a single component like the idea of a GTX 980 so you have something powerful enough to justify upgrading around.

*Just make sure to overclock the hell out of the i7 920, you can gain up to 30% bump in gaming performance.

I think a 1050 Ti would suit you as well. I advise you to go for the bigger ram so you can just add more later without wasting what you already have.

The Gygabyte is a decent one, I bought the windforce model: https://www.amazon.in/Gigabyte-GeForce-GTX-1050-Windforce/dp/B01M25X363/ , it has a better cooling and comes factory overclocked.
