Desktop parts compatibility (help!)

Hello all,

I have recently been fortunate enough to build a desktop using around $1000, I have already chosen all the parts and hoping to buy it in the next few days if not today. I would like to ask if all the parts in my build work well with each other, and I can use the desktop (hopefully) right after I build it.

This is my build:  https://www.pccasegear.com/sc/yDB

Thanks, and I wish you all a happy new year!

Everything looks good!

You may want more ram down the road though. Newer games like PUBG like to use a lot of RAM. 8GB may not be enough.

I noticed you dont have a storage drive though. Only a 240GB SSD.

You will definitely want to buy a second internal HDD to store your large files.

I wont recommend 7th gen because it's a dead platform. I'd get Ryzen instead.

Does Ryzen work well with all my parts?

Also I’ve heard Ryzen is not as good for editing videos.

Please do correct me if I’m wrong, I am all new to this.

Ryzen isnt as good as Intel at games. It's even better in editing videos because of more CPU cores for CPUs of the same price. What it isnt as good is gaming, but since you can get a higher end Ryzen for the same price as Intel, it would still be better

You will need a B350 mobo though. Dont go for MSI ones unless it is a high end model that's cheap. RAM compatibility is a problem for Ryzen (though mostly sloved), but it is still annoying for MSI's mobo specifically.

Cheap Sliverstone PSUs usually arent good.

Can you use au.pcpartpicker instead? It groups prices from many different sites so it might be cheaper that way

Which Ryzen would you recommend for my build? (Has to be around if not cheaper then my current cpu)

I heard ssd are faster then hdd so i went for an ssd. But i will definitely add more storage when it comes to it. (I currently use a laptop with 250gb, and I have used about 85% of it after 5 years).

And thanks for the advice on ram!

RAM is in pre-order status

No need for an extra cooler, the stock one will do

Larger capacity SSD that also performs better

Improved the PSU choice

This WiFi adapter gets good reviews despite lacking a large antenna

Chose 580 8gb over 1060 6gb because it's slightly more powerful (fight me fanbois) and has support for Freesync for a cheap high-refresh-rate monitor like this AOC one :  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BV1XBEI/?tag=pcpapi-20.

R5 1400 and 16gb of RAM vs 1600 and 8gb of RAM is because 8GB isn't really enough anymore and the 2 less cores don't really matter for gaming.

Don't get the extra cooler, your 7500 comes with a stock cooler.

Also I'd take a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO over the Sandisk Plus any day.

Also get 1x8GB of RAM so you don't limit yourself in the future if ever you upgrade.

Is the samsung 850 evo ssd better/faster?

Prices vary by country, so a list made with PCPP US won't help a bit. There is an Australian PCPP with (mostly) correct pricing.
