I am up and folding on my 2600k HTPC, all stock BIOS settings, with a hyper 212, only pulling mid 40's as far as temps go! The side of my case is off, so that might be a pretty big determining factor, but hell, this might be a pretty decent 2600! CPU-Z has me running at 1.136-1.144 vcore.

Anyways, my question is, is there any flag I should give it since it is an i7, such as bigadv? Although I only plan to run it on 6 or 7 cores, leave a few open for XBMC.

For CPU not many flags you can add. Don't add the bigadv flag as an i7 can't not handle them. bigadv WU are reserved for for multi-processor configurations and on Linux.

So far I am only getting about 7-8,000 PPD, its running a 0xa4 core. Isn't 8k pretty low for a 2600k?

Nope - depending on projects, you can get quite low PPD with CPU folding in Windows...

If you keep an eye on some of the other forums, it looks like for some time the Pande group has been strangling the generic SMP(CPU) folding in favour, we think, of pushing people more towards GPU folding or the larger bigadv boxes. This is also possibly why we have been seeing PPD values on CPU folding going down... but who knows. :)

My badge OCD kicked in after leaving the Intel Response Squad, so I setup a PC at work to fold 24/7 to be helpful. Just running a GTX 560 TI on it in the background.

Did it for a little bit a few years ago when I was going to Something Awful. Have 55 WU for them, does that get me any forum credit?

core17 is the type of work unit you are currently working on, you have core 15 16 17 etc .. then different ones for cpu's, different work units will reward you with different ammount of points and the time to complete them will vary from wu to wu..

So how do I know what I'm working on?

do you mean specificly what you are helping researching? exactly what project? work unit?

your folding client holds all the information my friend, just click on the gpu or cpu slot under the status tab, it should give you project number, fahcore, etc ..

check out the team stats, http://kakaostats.com/t.php?col=2&t=223518&offset=201&search_text=&filter=active, i found you at 308, assuming you use the same donor name as your forum name, welcome to the team.

Yep that's me. Left the computer running over the Christmas period as I wasn't in the mood for gaming, just wanted to watch anime and spend time with family and friends. So I thought if I ain't going to use it might as well let it do something useful.
