mounting screw question

This is a relatively small question and may even sound a little ridiculous, but does the problem of grounding your mobo out by a misplaced mount screw where it touches the mobo only happen when you turn on your system. Thank you

It will only short if you turn it on but you could also scratch/gouge the traces which would still ruin the board.

Okay thank you just wanted to know b/c I haven't built that much computers and I just wanted to know, so I can stop my hands from shaking so much next time I install a new mobo.

If you are really worried about it you can get little insulating fiber washers. They are usually red, just place one of those on the screw you think might have caused a short.

If you accidently drop screws under mobo while installing, you must pick them out before boot. I know its annoying, I just did that.
