OP: Get to know her better but really don't do anything that could possibly come off as creepy as that will entirely ruin your chances with her. Find out what her interests are, what kind of hobbies she has, etc. And above all, don't try to make a move on her if she's taken already

I don't understand at all. How does one like someone that they know little to nothing about. I can only imagine that it must be the hormones...

Just be friends for a long time. Easy enough except for the entire thing, I guess. A relationship is just the next stage to a friendship, so you shouldn't just rush ahead and be like 'Hey I like you'.

A little word of advice, don't do nothing. You'll regret it. I've thought to myself "Eh, she wont want to talk to me" before when I was in school and regretted it massively. Just talk to her and try to become friends and see how it goes. Worst that can happen is you have a new friend that you get along well with.
