Ryzen 5 stock cooler?

So I'm looking at getting a Ryzen 5 1400, and I don't have any AM4 compatible coolers or mounting brackets or anything like that and I was wondering how far I can overclock with the stock cooler.

i've read that 3.7-3.8  is the sweet spot for 1600 and 1700s, altho the 1400 does have a different heatsink, should be about the same.

Oh by all means the stock cooler for Ryzen is decent enough for a 3,8ghz solid, what motherboard are you getting though?

Even my Ryzen 1700 stock cooler can get my 1700 to 3.7Ghz at 1.225V and run cool and its a quiet cooler. 

 

You will be able to get 90% of your max overclock from the stock cooler even with a 1700 i bet a 1400 since its half the amount of cores can get to 3.8ghz or so. I think the main issue is it comes with a smaller heat-sink compared to the 1500x? At your budget i can't help but try and convince you to get a 1600 over a 1400 as its a better processor overall even for gaming.

Likely to be a Gigabyte AB350-Gaming. I only have an upgrade budget of 200 USD for this, which is why I'm bundling them.
