Deleting EFI Partition

Windows2000
Go to solution Solved by STRMfrmXMN,

Have you tried running bootrec.exe /fixboot? Also bootrec.exe /fixmbr?

Okay, so I know I opened another thread but just bare with me. Disregard that thread and I just need 2 questions answered.

Here's the situation:

  • Every single update that requires a restart fails.
  • I came to conclude that its because I have this EFI partition that I DO NOT BOOT FROM
  • I use Drive 0 as a storage drive that I just changed to dynamic because again, I do not plan booting from this drive ever agian
  • Drive 0 used to be my old boot drive, but I got a SSD and I forgot to modify the partitions and that is why I am assuming that the partitions are still left over

So the 2 questions:

  1. I want to double check if I can delete this EFI Partition.
    1. The file is only 400MB big and contains old boot files ( I presume) https://imgur.com/a/7tMs0 I should be fine right?
  2. How the fuck do you remove the EFI partition?
    1. I have already tried diskpart
    2. I get "The specified command or parameters are not supported on this system."

Please help and I applogize for posting twice but this has been pissing me off as Ive been struggling with it for the last 6 hours

No as I haven't been able to get my hands on a USB to burn an ISO yet. I'll try to download it quick and mount it on an SD card

If you're booting in UEFI mode, you need that EFI partition to boot Windows. You'll need to migrate it to your current C: drive.

You can do it within command prompt within Windows if your system is bootable.
