Im going to be building a new computer this April and would like have a small concern with my ram choice

My motherboard is the asus maximus x hero (wifi) or the code upon release paired with a 8700k

If i bought this particular ram Dominator Platinum Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4 DRAM 2666MHz C15 Memory Kit (CMD8GX4M2A2666C15) and this exact model could i buy one 2x4gb set in April then another 2x4gb set at a later date and add it to the system without any performance issues and/or having to go into bios?

If i can does the same apply to corsair vengeance lpx?

Thanks

What do you mean by optimise? Would that happen once then work fine after? Also i would not need to go into bios to get it to work?

Thanks for the help!

I had already done a lot of research but just want to check for the 100th tine xD since i know this forum

is amazing.

Also by dual channel does that mean 2 sticks only or can i use 4?

ram channels support up to 2 sticks of ram, and you can add more ram, ideally identical sticks, at any time, overclocking stability might be hampered by using more sticks of ram

Why not buy 1 stick 8gb and add another in april?

Less stick less latency less problem futureproof.

1 ram stick can cause awful system performance compared to 2x4gb otherwise i would have. Is 4 sticks of ram from different kits but the same model that bad?

What performance differences will it have on the computer and will it run at 2666mhx out of the box?

I have experienced issues in the past with ram under clocking in previous higher end build.

Thanks for the help xD

Yes, you can use 4 sticks in dual channel.

Ok, i dont plan on overclocking my ram as long as it runs at 2666mhz out of the box

DDR4 speeds above 2133mhz are considered an oc. The 2666mhz listed on the box is just a guaranteed oc from the manufacturer. To enable it, turn on XMP in the motherboard settings.

Lack of dual channel can result in less performance.

Ram kits are guaranteed to work in their configuration. When mixing kits, there's no guarantee that it may work although it usually does.

If you didn't enable xmp or raise the clock speed yourself, the ram probably stayed at the stock 1066, 1333, or 2133mhz for DDR3 and DDR4 respectively.

Less (small) yes. Awful? no...
Are your considering -5% awful?

You can google performance difference single vs dual channel.

Same speed and same everything (latency) from different brand should work, but not guaranteed.

Safer to buy identical stick from the same brand. Mix it in pairs.
