Do you think there is a product that lets you put a LOT of SD/microSD cards into a 3.5" or 5 1/4" cage and connect it with Sata cable to your computer?

If you fit them close together i bet you could get between 100 and 200 micro sd cards into a 5 1/4" kind of like how linus fit all those harddrives into the server he showed on a video. only on a smaller scale. well 100 - 200 times 512gb cards, is well 50 - 100 terabytes of storage in the space of a single dvd rom.

What do you guys think?

There is, it's a stupid idea. SD cards use cheaper memory than an SSD, and just aren't that great for any kind of long term storage.

Well if you took 2 of the same computer cases, and you filled the 8x 3.5" hard drive bays on one with ssd's and the other with micro sd cards. I think you would get more storage out of micro sd cards. Like lets say you can fit about 16 ssd's max by stacking 2 in each bay, you could fill the drive bays with like 1000 micro sd cards. they are so tiny... =P you would have more storage, even tho you could not use it as it was not connected.

Even if one were to buy it, the page says it doesn't support UHS-1, which means at best it's good for up to 25 MB/s per card. Even if you RAID0 the entire thing, that's at best 250 MB/s

If it supported UHS-3 with up to 600 MB/s some and change, why would it be on a SATA connector? :P

So, basically a less reliable SSD? With the only advantage being that you could use the cards in a phone/tablet/camera should a single card fail?

SSDs aren't any better theoretically speaking. If an SSD uses multiple chips, it's functionally the same as RAID 0ing a bunch of flash chips together.

But then again, SD cards aren't designed in a similar manner so who knows.

Listen, homie, I know. That's why I said "basically a less reliable SSD." It's the same basic concept, except with a less reliable medium.

A significantly less reliable one. Flash cards/drives tend to be the literal bottom of the barrel NAND that barely even qualifies as NAND. Not to mention the significantly worse controller. I'd be amazed if one of those micro-SD arrays lasts even a tenth as long as the cheapest modern known-brand SSD.
