I thought I should put this at the top, can you please tell me a currency i should mine too. i know bitcoin wont work, is ETH good?

 

so i have an i5 4690k and R9 390.

 

I alredy never turn my PC off so I thought why not mine if i can make any money from this. please take in note I do not pay my electric bill, i just pay rent, where I live we dont pay electricity or water or gas or any utilities we only have to pay for the housing cost. 

 

my only concern is my build is 2 almost 3 years old now and i dont want it to kill any component before id make enough to replace it, otherwise it would of been better to just my pc instead of kill it mining. i know there's no way to tell when a pc will die but that is my only concern with mining. id mine all night and most of the morning and use my pc about mid afternoon untill i go to bed at night.

 

but how much money can i expect to make and what websites and stuff would I use to mine and sell the money made by mining. and im not new to the whole mining thing ive looked into it and read about it but never in a serious way.

You can google search for a GPU hashrate database. There's a few wikis that have some hashrate. I usually check this website tho.

invest the time but its not like ill even be home or awake when my pc is mining. so is it really investing time

since you dont know me i guess i see why you say that. but i have multiple passive income things im working on, i have a youtube that makes about $3-$5 a week, i have a blog that makes $10-$20 or so 4 weeks on ads and im working on a streaming service ill get hosted for cheap if the deal comes though that will make it passive income after the initial cost is recouped because its a 2 year contract one time payment type deal. so this will just add to all that. a little bit adds up to a lot eventually.

You'll need a 3rd party to convert any crypto coin into legal tender and you have to have faith that they won't just lose your money (which happens). 

 

If you want to mine I can't stop you but I just do not think its worth the hassle and the risk. Not to mention, at least in the US, Crypto has a big target on its head from the big banks and the IRS.

ture so the profit wont be as much as it says becase of fess and that, im honestly looking for more ways to make passive money. i've done most of the ones you get when you google for ideas. im really just bored with all the free time i have and want to do something to occupy my time but a way to still make money while doing it as i cant work right now due to a injury.

 

i've even thought of learning to code and stuff just to pass the time but i cant see anything i could or want to make with coding. like i know games but thats it whole own realm, like making a program or softwear i just dont have enough imagination to code and create my own projects.

It also depends on the currency you plan on mining because they have different algorithms. For your 390, I suggest putting it to mine Ethereum since it's the most efficient at mining ETH and it's also profitable.

Even though u didnt play for electricity u will only get about $1'ish per day with your rig working at 100% on the gpu 24/7. get a part time job

i had a full time making 60k a year, then i got injured.

But still if $1'ish a day with ur pc running at 100% 24/7 with all that heat and noise is okay for you then go for it.

I'd choose another way even though i dont know what.

i dont know if you read any other replies but i stated that i have a few passive income things set up. right now i make about $40 a month on average just on passive income with blogs and YT, i thought of buying apps and then putting ads on them and advertizing them to get them dowloads but thats more risk then passive. 

 

and my isnt loud when ran on full load for a while. i used to render stuff on this rig lol. but yeah ive been looking into whatelse i can do but not much comes up

with current markets a single 390 should be doing closer to $2.50-3 usd/day right now. my 8 card rig is doing $20usd/day @ 1050watts with $90 of electric cost (canadian) per month. So for me making 800cad/month is sure worth it.

$2.50 USD - 3 a day? what currency u are mining with ur 390? how much is ur hasrate?

and 390 is a power hungry single card itself can use 200+watts even if u undervolt i doubt u only reach 1050 watts with 8 of them

I am not mining with a 390, i have RX480,470,570's. However the OP stated power costs are not a concern to him, and a 290 hash's very similar to a 480/580 card. 

Dualmining Etherium/decred or Cryptonight coins are paying off very well right now. Yes a 390 will be power hungry, and will run warm but with the proper settings it shouldnt be 'terrible'.

R9 390 hashrate for eth is around 28Mh/s which is very similar to 480 and it will only give like $1.3ish/day
