Case: Phanteks - ECLIPSE P400 TEMPERED GLASS ATX Mid Tower Case  ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($75.00 @ Amazon)

Keyboard: G.Skill - RIPJAWS KM780 MX Wired Gaming Keyboard  ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Mouse: Corsair - M65 PRO RGB FPS Wired Optical Mouse  ($44.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1903.68

...It's a touch over budget, but I was already pretty deep when you said you needed peripherals and monitors :P

This build gives you solid 144hz gaming. I'd get an adjustable mount for the secondary monitor though, they're $25.

I am Planning to do a Gaming/ working computer.

I have Chosen:

  1. Intel i7-4790K LGA 1150
  2. GTX 1060 6GB
  3. Total of 3 TB of Seageat storage 1TB-OS, 2TB-Storage
  4. EVGA 500 Watt supply

What More do i need apart from the case & fans. What Motherboard (Asus, MSI, Gigabite, ASRock, ect.), ram, and heat sink would you recommend?

Possible Motherboards in mind:

  1. Gigabyte GA-Z97X-GAMING

  2. Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC Z87 ATX

  3. GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-HD3

Possible CPU Heat Sink:

  1. Cooler Master Hyper 120 mm

What other things would you suggest adding or changing? I would like this build to be Modest; Not TOO expensive and not TOO cheap that it will run like crap. I would also prefer for the CPU socket to stay as LGA 1150 unless there are better options.

The Games that I will be Playing will be like Euro/American Truck Simulator, Payday, GTA V, & Rainbow Six.

Both Euro & American Truck sim work fine if the Graphics are put to Medium (Opts. Low, Medium, High, Ultra). While playing, my CPU (Intel i3-4130, 3.2Ghz, 2 Cores; 4 Threads) jumps from as low as 10% to ~35%.

The PC I have now is a custom build done by someone else.

Specs:

  • Windows 10 Pro
  • Intel Core i3 4130 @ 3.40GHz
  • 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz
  • MSI B85-G41 PC Mate(MS-7850) & Intel HD Graphics 4400
  • 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 610
  • 465GB ATA WDC Disk
  • 232GB ATA WDC Disk

P.s. It will be used occasionally with Auto-CAD 2016, MS Office 16 Pro+, & Photoshop.

Thanks for your help!

This is my first time buying and building my own computer. I don't plan on buying used parts. I would like your recommendation on what would be a great computer for Gaming on a modest budget. It doesn't have to be based around the motherboards I listed either.

Bring me up to date on the best Processors that are great for what i am looking for.

:)

Thanks!

I see you didn't mention an SSD.  I would strongly recommend getting one, it will make anything on it worlds faster.  The OS is essential imo, but any programs and games that you have spare room for would benefit as well.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

:)

I definitely wouldn't be buying a 4th gen processor when 8th gen is out ;)

What's you budget? Without a dollar figure (assuming you're in the US) it's kind of pointless, as modest is different to everyone. For example, a modest PC budget to me would be $1,800.

Don't forget to quote people like I've done here, or tag them like this @Joaquin_Carter otherwise they won't know you've replied.

Thanks @dizmo. A modest budget for me would be around (USD) $1,500 - 1,800. I would love to have the newest and best CPU but one or two gens older would be fine unless there can be some drawbacks.

Thanks!

Ahh, yes thanks for reminding me @dizmo. I would need need those. I would get two monitors. The primary monitor can be better resolution than the secondary.

Thanks!

@dizmo Tell me what build you would do. What would you prefer? Can you add the links to your parts too and an estamate on how much it would cost? Thanks for helping! :)

Shrink the SSD, drop the secondary display (VE248H) and you can probably upgrade the CPU (I'd really be tempted to go intel for high framerate gaming)

So i looked over the list and i cannot say i didn't like it. The only problem was that I'm not going to use the GTX 1080 to its full potential so that is one way to save money. Also the keyboard and mouse are way over priced, personally. So here is my list that is about $150 USD cheaper (With out MS Office Pro 16) with an Intel i7 CPU, 16 GB ram, and a GTX 1060. What are your thoughts? Will it be more than enough to run Euro/American Truck Sim, Payday, GTA V, Rainbow Six, and so on? There are obviously going to be som limiations but is that enough?

Thanks for helping! :)

That CPU and motherboard are really overpriced, especially the motherboard (insane!).  You could get a much better and newer CPU for the same money, and you could save a good 50% or so on the motherboard for sure with a different model.  I would put that money toward a better PSU and a more powerful GPU (you will appreciate it for gaming).

Also those monitors are ... well, total garbage :P not really any other way to say it.  Anything less than 1080p these days is basically "scrapyard-tier" and those would be a waste when the rest of the PC is so nice.

Could you guide me to a better non-overpriced CPU & Motherboard and monitors that aren't extremely expensive but resonable?

this https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VKx9TW/intel-core-i7-7700k-42ghz-quad-core-processor-bx80677i77700k

and something it will work with, like this for example: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7VZ2FT/asus-prime-z270-a-atx-lga1151-motherboard-prime-z270-a

(but there are many more motherboard choices)

I forgot how good your prices are down there xD thought the 7700k would be more like $350.  Definitely a good deal at this price imo, certainly compared to the 4790k.  IF you can, I'd look into an 8000 series but they are hard to come by and would be a bit more than this.

@Ryan_Vickers What GPU would you get

Depends on what resolution and what framerate you want to target, as well as what settings.  The previous build was suggesting a 1080p 144 Hz display which I would put at least a 1070 on, maybe a 1080.  If you'd rather go 4K60, I would say go up to a 1080 Ti, but if you just want 1080p60, a 1060 would do... it's just that with something more you could get more out of it since the rest of the PC is "ready" for it.

That looks a lot better!  I still think you could get away with a less expensive motherboard, and the PSU posted a while back (550W G2) would be fine, and I don't think you need an optical drive, but overall seems reasonable.
