Help choosing a good laptop (gaming/university)

I'm going to be buying a laptop soon, my budget is around £800-£1000 and i have narrowed my choice down to the dell Inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop (i5 7300HQ, 8GB RAM, GTX 1050 and 256 GB SSD or the i7 version if i save a little longer) but the only problem is the TN display as I've heard that it isn't too great, i'll mainly use it for gaming, college and programming as well as taking it to university next year, so it must have a decent battery life and capable of upgrading the ram and storage. are there any other laptops at this price point you guys could suggest as i would happily get the dell but the display is putting me off, also if there are any users of this dell laptop, is the screen really that bad ?

thanks.

TN is ok for gaming, not a problem at all. The view angles are not as good as IPS, but then you're always using a laptop while being in front of it, so I don't see an issue there.

yeah that's true, the display wasn't really at the top of my checklist i guess the reviews i saw over-exaggerated how bad the display was

the newest model is a little out of my price range as the price on the dell website excludes VAT and the cheapest model doesn't come with an SSD, this is the model i found but it doesn't specify if it has an IPS or TN display:

Lowest model is 900 usd, should be less in uk

just had a look on the UK website and its £966 with VAT and that's without an m.2 SSD, if the display isn't too bad when looking head on i might just go for the TN model to save some extra cash and go for the I7 version and sacrifice the display for a bit more performance

That elukronics model is a pretty good price for having the i7and ips screen.

Just to give you an update there are new deal on the site of Dell on Inspirons and XPSs. So the inspiron 5000 and 7000 fall under that category.
