Specs:

Corsair GTX H100i

Intel i7-4790k

MSI Z97 Gaming 5

So I just reapplied my thermal paste, I did it last about one and a half year ago so maybe it wasn't really necessary but I just wanted to do it anyway.

It didn't turn out like I wanted because my temps are around 70-80°C now. I don't think that it has anything to do with the application itself because I reapplied it now 3 times just in case. The first time I applied it didn't spread out evenly I think and the second time I put a bit too much. The third time I think it turn out just right though but still the temps are very high. When I open windows and Corsair Link opens up it says pump is at 0rpm. I've gone over the connections many times. The cooling block is connected to CPU Fan 1 in my motherboard and the other connector is connected to the two top fans. The USB in the block is connected to the USB connector in the motherboard. So I really am clueless at what might be wrong which is really annoying.

I think your pump died. You can try an listen to it if it still works.

Best method for that is to get a long screwdriver, hold the end with the bit (flat or philips) against the block on your cpu and the other end against your ear.

No i'm not joking :D this is the best way to listen to 1 component

Can it just die like that? It was working before I reapplied just an hour ago. :(

Try changing the USB header you're connected to, or test it if you can. Also is your thermal paste different this time?

I tried changing the USB header and also tried connecting the CPU fan to CPU fan header 2. I'ts the same thermal paste I used last time. I kept it in a drawer and its maybe about 1 year old, shouldn't that be fine?

The pumps will just stop working most of the times. With no real warning sadly

If the software is saying 0rpm then its usually correct about that :(

Check the packaging for a date. I've seen thermal paste separate before. Though 1 year shouldn't cause that.

All compounds are different, also will depend on how airtight it was stored.  I used a 10 year old tube of artic silver 5 with no ill effects.  I also had a tube of generic 5 years old and it was all gummed up.

Yes I used Arctic MX-4, it seemed fine when I used it. I can't see a date on it.
