will there arrive a point where tech has already evolved to the maximum and further advancements cannot be made? imagine never having to upgrade your pc and that it can be passed down to your great grandchildren. Or will we never arrive at said point before the human race becomes extinct/ our brains are always evolving and AI advances to further aid us towards future advancements.

Is there a point it physically cannot get better?  Yes, this has been calculated based on physics using the size of the universe and the theoretical maximum computing power per volume or something like that iirc.

Will we ever reach that? xD not even the smallest imaginable fraction...

That said, every day more and more devices cross the threshold where it's enough for most people and the pressure to upgrade just isn't what it used to be.  I think for anyone just doing "general use", that point happened around the time sandy bridge was available.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

yea kinda sucks nowadays where tech isnt being pushed to the boundaries like it was a few decades ago when each year brought a significant advancement.

In some ways it's nice.  In the 90s if you didn't upgrade every year you really felt like you were on obsolete garbage, but now, you can go 2, 3, 4 etc without it really being a big deal.

@Ryan_Vickers is right, imagine having to upgrade every year or two.

While the advancements where big I can imagine not everyone had the savings to get a new system every year.

While seeing a major leap in technology would be awesome, by all means sign me up!

A medal has 2 sides, on good ... one not so good.
Take self aware AI.

While I'd love to have actual useful AI, it could also be used in bad ways.

Just imagine how war would change, some military's would get robots to fight. Some would require more funding and still use human soldiers.

Where AI would be great is on the road, when we can learn it to drive car accidents can hopefully become something rare. (Tesla does this, but not everyone has that kind of [$$$] for a car).

But talking about PC's, games will continue to look better.

Software will continue to expand in features and become quicker & sometimes easier to use.

Will there be a massive leap forward? Maybe, if the right person the right time gets a brilliant idea. But that isn't something that happens every weekday, does it?

When the PC is acting up haunted,

who ya gonna call?

*Terrible joke I know*
