Dragonball Super

Just wondering if anyone on the forum watches dragonball super. I think its disappointing only one minute of dragonball time is going by in each IRL 25 minute long episode, feels like nothing is really happening each episode.

116 shows Vegeta figured out Goku was mastering Ultra Instinct, but I heard Vegeta supposedly has something inbetween super saiyan blue and ultra instinct he hasn't revealed yet?

Super sucks. I legitimately tried it twice. I'd rather watch the fucking Buu saga then watch Super. I mean, Z obviously had tons of problems itself, but at least it was enjoyable to watch. Super just makes me want to jump out of a window.

I watch every episode.

I like super but there are things that annoy me. Finally, these female sajayins are out, super annoying not because of their gender but rather because of their characters. I hope fucking universe two will be out soon. They are so annoying.

what part of super did you watch? the first roughly 30 episodes are a remake of the resurrection of f movie. a bit after that it gets better. it starts to pick up around 50ish.

I think Bribriane is a nuisance. She is clearly weak, the entire time she gets smacked around like its nothing yet for some reason the writers are nerfing everyone she fights, I don't understand how no 17 and 18 somehow struggled fighting her its dumb and overdramatic. Goku should have knocked her off the stage immediately. I'm glad shes finally out.

 

I don't mind the female saiyans, I just don't understand how according to super's timeline just a matter of a couple hours before the tournament the female saiyans learned how to go super saiyan 1, not by cannon from the series, where out of necessity, but just a tingly feeling in their backs? Dafaq? Then they proceed to unlock 2 AND farther by combining? By combining two newbs, somehow overpowers blue? What?

 

If they want to do a ridiculous story that's fine but the extent of how far they're dragging this out is crazy, a single sparring match stretched 3-5 episodes and when its over nothing has been resolved, just another cliffhanger. If the timeline is going to continue this way theres a minimum of something like 25-30 more episodes just to finish the tournament? I really just want this tournament to end, we already know universe 7 is going to survive because super takes place between the end of z and the final scene of z.

Did you watch Z back in the day? You have any idea of how fucking long anything took back then? I think they might have been full length episodes of nothing but Characters looking at each other with an inner monologue, charging up ki, some BS sideplot and maybe 2 or 3 explosive punches, that was it.

I hate most filler dbs has to offer. Although, my favorite filler episode was the one with the baseball match, episode 17. Even in victory, Yamcha is still a loser.

yeah I did, theres no inner monologue or sideplot, its a tournament where everyone should be going all out to survive, but they aren't. the excuse given in the storyline is they need to conserve energy for the end of the battle, but they're still sacrificing stamina and they aren't efficiently eliminating opponents for literally no reason.

Except when they had the hermit pills of plot convenience nearby which would be very useful for this deadly sanctioned tournaments btw, but point taken.

Most of super has been really good, I can't say the same for the majority of the episodes recruiting fighters for this tournament, and the majority of the tournament itself.

But literally the only plot in this tournament is fight to survive. Goku is being nerfed, there has been none of Gohan honing his remastered skills(or progressing), nor much of Vegeta. And Frieza is just standing there with his arms crossed the entire tournament.

 

In summary, this tournament feels like the fight at the end of South Park the Fractured But Whole, where Cartman and Kyle keep making up new rules as the fight goes on dragging it out longer than it really needed to last.

Either the episodes are boring, or some stupid character manages to annoy me to hell. There's rarely an episode I actually like. Dragon Ball Super should have never been made.

Stopped watching a few episodes ago. I'm pretty caught up, no it's still not good. When I say "tried it twice", I mean I started watching, then quit because I hated it then came back later and still hated it.

Yes, I'm not on the latest though. I always prefer English if it's available and that's how I originally watched Dragon Ball. (If I start Dub, I prefer continuing Dubbed.) I have actually tried the Japanese dub but I don't like the voices personally. (I had watched the OVA 'Yo! Son Goku and his friends return!' or whatever it's called jp dubbed. I ended up watching the other OVAs dubbed in English by fans. They weren't so bad. I remember the 'Episode of Bardock' dub I watched, the guy that did Bardock actually sounded like him. Also had a guy that sounded like Frieza. Crazy.)

 

So, I watch it, but I'm not on the latest (117?) but rather 41 since I'm watching Dubbed which only just started like early January this year. Sucks but it looks like thanksgiving pushed episode 42 to next week  Already had a recent push (Ep.39) because of the world cup. Darn it  

 

Either way, I watch week to week as the episodes come out. I think it's pretty good but I don't really find it on the same level as DBZ, progression wise anyway.

 

Note (About Spoilers below): Talking about details upto Season 3 (Universe 6 Saga) or like Ep.36-38ish if you want a episode number. Also sorta, Season 4? Haven't actually seen Season 4 though, just assuming from what I happened to see from images by accident.

One example of something that bothered me was the beginning. I didn't like Super Saiyan 3 getting superseded pretty much straight off the bat. A few episodes in and he has a brawl with a new opponent (Beerus) and just gets straight destroyed in literally 2 blows (a slap and a kick iirc). I was like "WTF?" Then a few episodes later we get Super Saiyan God... Cool form but I just wasn't fond of it appearing so early and overtaking SSJ3.

 

Another thing I didn't really like was a little later, the second season/golden frieza saga. Frieza gets resurrected (Wasn't really big on seeing him again but whatever) and then it's like... it's the guy who was on-par with SSJ Goku does a month of training and is now stronger than SSB Goku. Dafuq? That's a ridiculous jump...  Whatever though, I guess. Goku goes through like a decade of shit to get where he is and Frieza just goes through a month of making one of his minions a punching bag. Sure, sure... >_>

 

I did take note that in the season 3 (Universe 6) that Vegeta used Super Saiyan 1 then jumped to Super Saiyan Blue. So I guess the forms aren't killed off. That made me feel better. I did also see when I was image searching (I was making a folder icon) that it looked like Goku went Super Saiyan 3 and sparred with Future Trunks? So there's also that. Clearly the forms are still there. I just didn't like a new form being thrown in so soon and putting the old aside. It had seemed like the forms were completely retired to me and that there were (if there were more transformations) gonna be a whole new line of forms.

 

I guess thinking on it now, they weren't necessarily retired but those were just my thoughts while watching the episodes.

 

So all in all, I don't hate Super but there were just those few tidbits that bothered me a little bit. Can't completely appease all fans, that's just natural.

dunno about you guys but i just set my mind set to me as a kid watching dragon ball in sunday morning cartoon as i used to

 

lets be honest, DB and DBZ has its own flaws but you don't complain about them when you're still a kid because you don't think much and just watch the buff dudes fighting each other with their flashy beams

 

with the same mindset, i just watch DBS on every Sunday morning and i enjoy every bit of it.

Isn't Super a comeback essentially for all the fans who have been wanting more though? I think it'd be kinda excepted that those fans are adults and will naturally have adult mind sets now, not kid ones.

 

Kids wouldn't have complained about the lackluster animation (I remember when the fuss was going on. I haven't seen the movies yet though to see the difference myself). They would just sit down and watch their show.

actually its more Akira Toriyama got so dissapointed by that one movie that he have to come out from his retirement to set things straight again
