1080p 144hz

TurbulentWinds

I am looking to purchase a 1080p 144hz monitor for $150-200. The only feature I need is the ability to toggle into a lower refresh rate mode such as 60hz when I’m looking for graphical fidelity.

WTF does that mean?

I’ve seen a couple of monitors that have a deticated button to switch from 60hz to the higher refresh rate. It’s a cheap solution for when you want higher settings lower refresh instead of having to push 144 FPS to stop screen tearing. For example, a 1050 Ti can’t push 144 FPS in The Witcher 3 on high settings but it would be able to bump up the graphics if the target frame rate was 60 FPS. So, to remove screen tearing, some monitors allow you to change them into a 60hz mode.

I'm in a similar boat as you looking for budget 1080p 144hz monitors, here's what I've found so far, I'm not sure about the refresh rate switch, but I'd assume that a monitor will allow you to change that in its settings.
