So this evening I was going about as usual getting ready for finals and doing some more dev work on a game I am developing. Started testing it tonight and it was running smooth, until I pressed "Run program in safe mode". The computer where this is done is my laptop, because I can bring it to school of course. Can't carry my desktop to school daily so I need a new laptop. and a good one.

With it being a dual core amd processor and a 17" screen at a resolution of 1440x900 it lagged and BSOD'd. I have come to the conclusion I need a very powerful laptop if I want to continue working on my games and school work. I don't want a workstation laptop because I will be playing intensive games on it.

What I've found so far: MSI GT70 2OD-001US

It's the best one I've found for the price, and will probably last until near college time. If you have any suggestions please post below, i'd like to have more of a variety and no more than $2400. Thanks.

I would like it to be about $2100, $100-150 more is fine. I found the laptop on msi's site on amazon for $400 less here. Also I am located in the US  I do plan to get the 3-year warranty, that's probably when the laptop wont be able to keep up anymore.

Are you really okay with lugging a 17" laptop to school?

How did you like the system 76 laptops?

I've been looking at them every so often, they are very nice laptops and are powerful also. But I don't like the design. Maybe if i need a 14" powerful laptop :P

Yeah, I carry everything in my backpack, So one binder, one textbook, and one notebook. So it's all fairly light for me and I just carry around my current laptop in a carrying case.

So would you prefer a smaller laptop or a larger one?

Also, with this kind of money, why not get a more powerful desktop along with the laptop?

Larger laptop for more productivity, and I need all of the power to be in the laptop, reason is, is because all my work will be done on this laptop. From sitting at the library or at home. Then I know if I get a beta out for a game, the laptop can handle it's very un optimizedness. After the laptop I will save up over the summer to build a Work station around October

In that case, the laptop you chose is fine.
