Regarding GPUs, I am currently running a GTX 660 2GB card in my pc, other specs are an i5-3570k and 16GB of ram.....etc. I have been adding multiple monitors in order to make work easier and allow me to multitask between a video, PDF documents, games, internet, etc. With the increasing amount of resources needed from GPUs to run more modern games would it make sense to get a secondary GPU? I do not mean get a second GTX 660, reasons being cost, and also I know that if I were to add a second one I would still only have 2GB of VRAM. I have been researching a bit and saw some people get a "lesser" card such as a GT 640 2GB card, and then run their monitor for gaming off of the better card, and all accessory monitors off of the second card.

Would such a setup improve performance, or ease the load on the 660? Also, would there be conflicting issues with the drivers?

Please enlighten me, and even if it is not a good idea could you explain as to why and when it may be? Thank you.
