Prebuilt Gateway PC - Screen Appears “Blurry”

I have almost no knowledge of the situation here, I T/A for my band teacher, he knows I’m decent with computers, and asked me if I could give him some knowledge on this. 

 

It it is a prebuilt Gateway system, don’t know specs, running Windows 10. He says everything is blurry, as in: none of the lines are sharp and crisp. He said all of his drivers are up to date, and mentioned that it gave him a message “Something has malfunctioned and has been disabled” he said is wasn’t a driver, but idk. Any ideas?

What cable is connecting the computer to the monitor? Is it VGA?
