This may be a stupid question.  If a power supply has a AC input from 100v - 240v does that mean the power supply can be used universally?  For example the power supply would be compatible with an american wall socket but also be compatible with a wall socket in the UK.  Please help.  Thanks.

I have seen some older ones with a switch on them for just that use, but that was a long time ago, I don't think I've seen such recently, but I"m not an expert on that

Yes, exactly that it means.

 

It means that the input voltage can be anything between those two...
