What is my Coaxial Cable for?

BetterThanTofu

I recently bought a new router without looking at what cables my current one uses. When I got home ready to install the new one I found that the new router doesn't have a coaxial cable port and the old one does. I unplugged the coaxial cable and everything works normally still TV, wi-fi, phones, everything. What was it there for?

EDIT: I used to have cable TV but now have Satellite could it be something the cable provider just left?

If the old router had a coax input it is a wireless modem, it gets the internet threw that coax cable.

So, what cable is connected to the WAN port of the new router and where does it go?
