laptop Is the i5 8th Gen Better in a Significant way than the i5 7th Gen Processor in Laptops?

I am Planning on Buying a new Laptop for Programming, Entry Level Machine Learning and for Ethical Hacking. My Budget is  Rs. 62000(Max).Is the i5 8th Gen Better than the 7th Gen. I need a Basic Graphic Card(like the 940mx or mx150) but I need to run atleast 4 Vms Simultaneously. Also Plz Recommend which Laptop Company will be the best bang for the buck.

Yes, they have 4 cores instead of 2. It's a major upgrade (over the comparable U models).

For running 4 VMs you definitely want the 8th gen because of the extra cores

What does the VMs efficiency depend on, the Processor or the Ram?

 

I need to be sure that the jump from 7th gen to 8th gen is really good as the difference in the price is more than Rs. 10000( around 150$).

Is the 8th gen really worth it?

I have only 2 options in the 8th gen category one from Asus and another from HP, the acer one has a mx150 and the HP one has a 940 mx.

Which one would be Better?

The 8th gen U-series CPUs have four hyper threaded cores, and while each core is clocked lower than the previous generation (that had only two cores, allowing each core to use more power) the overall multi-threaded performance has jumped up significantly. Do you guys know how the 8th gen U-series processors compare to 7th gen HQ- series ? Debating whether I should get an 8th gen laptop or a 7th gen gaming laptop

8250U and 8550U is slightly better than 7300HQ in multi core performance (long, heavy load)
7700HQ still faster than both KB-R CPUs
Single core performance pretty much the same among KB-R and 7th gen HQ CPUs
 

It's amazing when a 4C8T, 15W TDP KB-R CPU clocked at 2.2-2.4GHz under all core heavy load is slightly faster than 4C4T, 45W TDP 7300HQ clocked at 3.1GHz (all cores) in multi core performance

Do you game often on the go? If not, get a premium consumer laptop with 8250U and maybe MX150 (8550U not worth it due to TDP limitation, clock speed pretty much the same with 8250U under load)
