Can anyone help me?

Go to solution Solved by minibois,

All 1151 CPU's that are not 8th gen:

https://ark.intel.com/Search/FeatureFilter?productType=processors&SocketsSupported=FCLGA1151

So ignore all CPU's that start with 8 (like 8700K, etc.)

Or maybe even easier, all CPU's on its QVL:

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B250-GAMING-PRO-CARBON#support-cpu

But were you looking for any recommendations? What kind of price were you thinking about? What are you gonna do with it? etc.

Also, keep in mind you will need some DDR4 as well, it might be easiest to just list off everything you have atm.

You need a Intel Core i series 6th or 7th gen CPU. What CPU are you trying to fit into the socket?

The cpu i have is a intel core i5-4460. The price range i would like if i need to buy a new cpu is up to £100. Thank you for the help so far!

also do you think it will be worth me tsking my motherboard back and buying one that will fit it.

That's a Haswell refresh chip. I have mine on a Z87 motherboard. What you need is an LGA 1150 socket motherboard for your 4460.

4000 series CPUs go in H/Z87 or H/Z97 chipsets. "Z" is high tier, has Intel Rapid Storage support and "H" is mid tier. Any motherboard for your current CPU will use DDR3 1600Mhz RAM natively, "Z" chipsets can usually go higher will little to no work. I bring this up because your original post mentioned a DDR4 based motherboard, so I am guessing you have DDR4 RAM on hand right now.
