Am gona be getting Skyrim, but I wanted to get as much fps as possible(so 1st ill uncap it) because ill be getting a 144hz monitor.

Is it worth turning down the graphics to obtain at least those 100+ minimum fps? Or should I just give up on that and make the game pretty as possible and stick to 60fps?

Also, one more question:

Are there any benefits to having a 144hz monitor if you arent going to get 144fps in your games, but you will still get a bit more than 60 but less than 100?So lets say 80fps average on a game maxed out, what are the advantages to having a 144hz monitor at that point?

I'm asking because I can't change my order anymore and so yea I'm definitely gona be getting the 144hz monitor.

Specs will be:

Pretty sure skyrim isn't fond of xfire.

Max it out though.

60fps is fine. I dont see any reason to ever need 100+fps unless you are say a mlg starcraft player or something. You should be able to get 60+fps on high no problem.

Skyrim is capped at 60FPS and if you do unlock the framerate weird things start to happen.

Skyrim hates AMD builds so you wont get 100fps no matter what you do. Plus when you start modding it. FPS will take further dips

There was another video I saw that has a door flipping out and weird noises from stuff you don't see. Also I have a 7950 and have everything maxed out and I rarely if ever drop below 60FPS.

what.. the...

And still even if I have it at 60fps I will still have the advantage that while its not noticeable, 144hz is like 6.3ms latency or whatever compared to 60hz around 16ms i think?

so we could say, getting an IPS would be more sensible :)

nvida g-sync IPS monitors GO GO GO

if u mod ur skyrim u wont be able to get near 80 fps let alone 144. dont get the 144hx screen get a nice IPS screen (1440p) if u can but 1080 is good too

Ya I would but stupid me went for the 144hz and i cant change it anymore. I'll try to use its full potential on CS GO at least :)

Feels like such a waste getting the 144hz monitor if I wont even get to 144fps in most of the games I'll play :(.

I remember you had a build planned and asked for help, I don't remember you putting down a 144Hz monitor otherwise a lot of people would have told you to get a better image quality monitor.

Yea, I changed from an IPS to a 144hz TN at the last moment like a complete idiot and now im stuck with the 144hz. Pls cheer me up and tell me some benefits I'll get from it(obviously I wont really get benefits from smoothness in games unless they are really low demanding since as I said in these RPG games I will be at about 60fps so yea...tell me some benefits so I dont feel bad :()
