PUBG Terrible FPS

Lindows

Hi, I have a decent gaming PC. I'm getting awful frames on PUBG. its averaged around 30fps. I have no idea what the problem is. I have a friend with a similar build but he has a RX 480 and he gets 70+ fps

This occurs at any point in the game not just the starting lobby. I have the most recent driver update and this is a fresh install of Windows

yeah the game is very cpu intensive, and the 8320 isnt the best cpu out there in terms of gaming performance.

I think that anyone with a midrange system getting good FPS in PUBG would really surprise me.

8320 isn't the best. It also doesn't help that PUBG is poorly optimized and leans heavily on your poor little cpu.

HEADS UP, THIS ACCOUNT IS INACTIVE NOW

I'm keeping everything else the way it was for anyone who might check out my answers in future, but I won't be using LTT.

Look at my system(profile, not under post).

I get drops to 30-40FPS from 144FPS every couple of seconds which makes the game unplayable for me. I rather play Arma 3 in which I have stable 25FPS.

Both games are CPU single core intensive and lack optimisation. Nothing you can really do about it.

Yeah I know the 8320 isnt the best CPU out there.  I'm trying to squeeze its life span. The core of my build is 3 years old (Ram, CPU & Motherboard) I just thought it was weird that my old GPU did better running PUBG i would at least get 40fps. and that was just a GTX 960 2gb

And you’re not running it surround? My 1060 at 1440p also gets like 70ish fps on the same settings as you have

That's an F in the profile pic

I was able to get my game to run at a solid 50fps by adding some boot commands

Open MSI Afterburner, enable the GPU Usage overlay, and keep an eye on it. When you're out on the island outside of the starting zone, is your GPU usage going over 90%? If not, it's definitely a CPU bottleneck. If feel you want to upgrade your CPU, an i3 7100 or Ryzen 3 12000 should be the minimum you'd want to consider, and both of them gives decent performance in PUBG for a fair price.

When i play at my current settings (the one in the listing) it goes around 40-50% on all ultra it stays in the 80-100 depending on my location.

Yeah, so using the settings you posted, your CPU is bottlenecking the card. You can try a few things to raise the bottleneck, like lowering the Flip Queue Size in your driver settings, overclocking your CPU, and maybe overclocking your ram or lowering the timings. Hopefully one of those three (or a combination of the three) will get your frames more playable without you having to sink some money into a new build.
