No. The 1050Ti and 980 cannot SLI, SLI has to be the same card. XFire can be different cards but the top tier one will have to slow down to the bottom tier thus making it moot.

No, but for two reasons:

1. They are different cards, you need to have the same card.

2. They are different generations.

You can probably set one as the main GPU and the other as a slave GPU that just does physics calculations.

But why do you have a 1050ti when you also have a 980? Doesn't the 980 outperform the 1050ti? http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-980-vs-GeForce-GTX-1050-Ti

If it were me, I'd sell the 1050ti discounted to a buddy or full priced on eBay.

No. SLI only works with cards of the same core and memory specs.

Crossfire doesnt work with cards of different cores either. What you describe should be DX12 rather than CF.

As far as I can tell only AMD cards had this possibility and even introduced such combinations in some laptops. Do not ever opt for SLI unless you have the top performing card on the market or the next best one.

Here's a good piece of advice: sell both cards and buy 1070Ti when it is released tomorrow. Even a used 1070 or 980Ti would be better.

No.

Also, SLI is bad, just sell both cards and buy a single good one.

No. SLI has to be 2 identical GPUs to work. You could use the 980 as your main GPU and use the 1050Ti as a PhysX processor though...
