Need help with new build

I am planning to upgrade from my current build:

  • I5 4690K @4.2Ghz
  • 1070 FE
  • 16Gb 1600 mhz DDR3(2x8)
  • rm850x psu
  • z97x gaming 3
  • BD-28 (Sharkoon)

I will (hopefully) upgrading to

  • I5-8600K (At around 4.9/5 Ghz)
  • AIO(Need help deciding which one to get as I am a noob)
  • Asus Prime Z370-A
  • Keeping PSU/Storage devices
  • 16Gb 3000 mhz DDR4 trident z rgb

I also need help selecting a case, I am looking at phanteks at the moment. The P400S Tempered glass (Can't find out about airflow, noise etc) and the Pro M(Or SE) Tempered glass.

If anyone can help with choosing an AIO and are able to give some more information about the cases (or if you have suggestions).

TIA

That's what I would recommend for an AIO. As for the rest of the build it looks good. I also noticed you didn't show your storage devices, as long as you have an ssd as your boot drive your fine. Also great processor choice, It will be hard to find now but trust me when they restock they will be worth the wait.

@Douglas The Duck Even though I will be doing gaming about 99.99% of the time, if I were to stream, would the 8600k still be decent?

Why are you upgrading the cpu?

When playing games like R6 on low, I get insane stuttering, casuing me to have to go on ultra to avoid stuttering and minimise load on CPU. It's annoying as I get less FPS, So upgrading the CPU is one of my only choices

Definitely annoying. Have you read https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=739436571?

Don't even need to read that, I have tried everything to reduce stutter. Even gone as far as to get another 4690k just to see if my chip was dying (Stolen from brothers rig hehe). It seems that if I want to play the game smoothly I HAVE to sacrifice a good 30 fps, which means I can't use my 144hz monitor to its full potential.

Can't you just overclock the chip? I have a friend with a 6500 and a 1070, with no issues in Rainbow Six Siege.

I have a cooler master 212, And if you look at the my forum signature you can see it is over clocked to 4.2Ghz, up from the boost of 3.5, which is what this chip runs at stock. The cooling is sufficent, but even after overclocking all the way upto 4.6Ghz, the I only got a difference of about 5-10 FPS.

I would personally you get two more cores with 8th gen

Exactly why i'm upgrading. A 1070 and a high end i5 can play 1440p no problem. aslong as I reach 144fps+ in most of my games im happy lol

Also, with one of the newer CPU's (8600k) You can easily reach 5Ghz, MUCH higher than previous I5's. I would imagine you can get even higher with a good delid.
