i5 8600 OC vs i7 8700 vs ryzen 7 1700 oc

Can the i5 8600K @ 5GHz match the i7 8700 non-k @ 4.6GHz or Ryzen 7 1700 with or without OC

Bear in mind that Ryzen comes with a cooler but ram costs more and Intel needs an am cooler and more expensive mobo.

Also, i5 with delinquent cooler ~equals i7 non-k  in price.

Prices: -i5 8600k (269), -r7 1700 (282), -i7 9700 (320-330), -also, r5 1600 for 189 

I play games, consume multimedia and work (lightly for now) on pc

can smn clear things up???

If your budget allows it get the i7 8700.

 

Some more info: I had an i7 6700@4.5Ghz switched to a R7 1700@ 3.7 Ghz. A few frames don't matter to me, and whenever my GTX 1070 allows it I play at 4k, else at 1080p. At 4k, it makes no difference what GPU you have, at 1080p the fps are good enough for me on either. 

The R7 shines when I develop stuff in Unity3d, that's what I got it for. 

 

If it was between a 4 core i7 vs an R7 it's quite easy to pick the R7. But when you compare the Ryzen R7 to an i7 8700 then ... well the i7 it is, for work and games.

Running the 8600K at 5ghz here, in gaming you won't notice any difference between i7 and i5 especially if you game at 1440p or 4k. For what you do i wouldn't consider ryzen since it's worse at gaming and you'll have plenty of power even with the i5 for any type of light work.

Any recommendations for coolers to OC the i5 (~70euros) that won't make it more expensive than the i5?

For games, i5 8600k would be best idea with it's 6 strong cores.

8600k at 5,0GHz is better than any i7 4c/8t CPU.

It might not be the best cpu for gaming and streaming, but in my opinion it would still handle it pretty well.

 

Ryzen have around 30% better multiscore speed, but it's not the best for 1080p gaming or if you play mmorpg games.
