Is the GPU, the ATI Radeon card, the only GFX card in the laptop, or does it come with "switchable" GFX cards, and is defaulting to an Intel one?

Sounds like you have two video cards in the laptop, some laptops did that, an Intel one for daily tasks and battery life, and the Radeon one for gaming.

Some laptops have software that allows you to switch from one video card to the other, and some laptops use an actual hardware switch.

The HP Pavilion g6 is a generic name HP uses for the G-line, and won't give me the details I need. Find the exact model number, usually on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop, and post it here, I'll see what I can find from there.

And your English is fine

CPU-Z *might* give me the info I need, otherwise, if you are somewhat computer knowledgeable, go to Device Manager and show me a screenshot of the "Display Adapters" section expanded

Yup, just as I expected, you have two video cards, and currently the Intel one is running the show. Now, how to switch out to the other one....I have no idea, it's probably in the laptop manual on HP's website, you'll have to Google around to figure that out.

Ah. Well like I said, your laptop manual *should* give you the answer. If you can find the exact model number of your laptop, that'll help, I can search from there.

Hp has this to say:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02731962

Which isn't a lot of help....still searching...

Try this:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03048374

According to the quick read, you must switch GFX cards through the ATI Catalyst Control Center, so if that's not installed, it will default to Intel.

From one of the threads I read, you have to uninstall *both* video card drivers, then install the AMD Catalyst Control soiftware from HPs website and then the option to switch GFX cards is supposed to appear

why ?

Just curiosity..

nvm, I didn're really read what the problem was.. So I don't know what I'm doing here anyways.

I'll be on my way. I hope you solve the problem. I remember fixing my brother's laptops because games wouldn't start.. Turns out you had to install DX in general and some drivers.. Your GPU is crap tho.. Good luck running anything with that.

It's probably the chipset driver.

Leave it alone, try to re-install the Catalyst Control Panel software from HP's website, specific to your g6 laptop
