Can anyone figure out what is wrong with my PC?

Jack02

My PC will not boot if the GPU is plugged in, one of my HDDs are plugged in, and one of my fans doesn't work. I also can't turn it on via the power button, I have the flick the power supply switch on and off or wiggle the power cord in. I thought this was a motherboard problem, but it only fixed the fan and HDD problem. So, I switched back to my old MSI board and I'm sending back to the new Gigabyte board. I moved the fan to a different header and it works now, the HDD still doesn't work, the GPU still doesn't work, and I still can't use the power button.

Is this a CPU problem?

plug out every single cable you have on ur motherboard BESIDES THE ONE YOU REALLY NEED, like usb ports and power on cable. Probably ur LED Power on is damaged or something, i had the same symptoms with my brand new case -_-

No it's completely fine. Not a case issue.

IMO the problem is either the board or the PSU. I had similar issues twice , once it was the board with a dead PCIE lane and the other was it wouldnt boot if because of a lack of power. keep in mind it worked fine for about a year, than the PSU wasnt able to give enough power to both the CPU and gpu. It would work with the integrated graphics but not with a GPU installed. Changing the PSU worked for me.

power on the mobo by putting a screwdriver between the two pins necessary for boot up. If that doesnt work that means ur mobo is dead.

I already tried a new motherboard. Did you read this post?

Remove the GPU/HDD, Boot and attempt to get into BIOS

Also ensure the jumper isn't on the CLEAR CMOS pins.

I'm on the computer right now. GPU and HDD not plugged in. I also had to power on by wiggling power cable and waiting for the spark.

your signature is in white. change it to automatic  text color or for people with white theme its invisible. Your setup seems good. its probably the board. It is rare that a CPU is half functioning. when you send a board back , they send refurb board or just repair yours, this could be a second doa you have received.

the only way to troubleshoot this is to go step by step, like someone already mentioned try it with just the essentials first and go from there

That's weird.. power button should work...

Try to boot on the mobo with your things plugged in outside the case.

Last time I saw this problem it was because of a motherboard standoff screw was causing a short.

I've already tried this sadly.

Just realized you're from montreal too. and yes, this answer could be it , I would go as far as to remove everything from the case and test it outside on a cardboard box.

the power button issue for example can't be a problem with booth board or you already have an answer to one problem. That is the way to go, for every component. I think

No the LED turns on and stuff, but it won't boot from hitting it.

trying a new PSU and trying it out outside the case came to mind.
