AMD Wraith Max Whining

Hi Guys,

 

I installed a wraith max CPU cooler in my rig today and I get a distinct whining noise from the fan when it is running between 25-90% (what I imagine coil whine might sound might). The wraith spire I had prior to this did not make any whining noises regardless of the fan speed. I have a 750w PSU that is 1 month old and it's only running a ryzen 1400 and rx 580 so I don't think it's my PSU. Any ideas what it could be and how to fix?

Not coil whine, RMA the fan

I just uploaded a video with the sound. In the video it seems quiet but it's actually quite a bit louder and really annoying, to the point I think I would rather use the wraith spire.

I raised an RMA request with AMD, does anybody know how long roughly they take to get back to you?

Guys just to let you all know. I swapped it from the CPU fan header to one of the other fan headers and now the whine is gone. What does this mean is the fault? Faulty mobo?
