windows 10 thumbnails are gone

on windows 10 the feature where hovering a program with several windows shows you a thumbnail of each has stopped it just shows a list of programs and the thumbnails are better for me to find what i need faster. how do i turn them back on? its not in the settings!!!! i dont even know how it was turned off it just kinda happend

Try to unpin one of the program in the taskbar then go to start program menu and repin it 

 

To pin a program in the list, exp:  pin to start - more-- pin to taskbar 

 

I am not sure if this will resolve your problem.
