Are power 24 pin power adapters safe?

For proprietary connectors if you find one that is compatible get it, there isn't really a brand in most cases as long as it looks good. 

I recently purchased a power supply without realising that my mobo connector isnt 24 pins are power adapters safe (like 18-24 pin connector)or should i just upgrade my mobo?

Adapters are fine. Just make sure to get the right one for your board.

You can get an adapter as long as you are able to find a compatible one, if you can't get one then it would be easier to just search for a new board than trying to trace pinouts and such.

Oh one thing I will mention is if there is specs on the wiring ideally it should be at least 18AWG as that is pretty standard for PSU wiring.
