well if your system crashes then it's not a stable overclock, and those temps are very high. I don't know off the top of my head TJ max for that chip, but usually you want to be well under 90 degrees at the MOST. For example, an FX-8350 should remain under 80 degrees

 Current System: MoonLightRyzen

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700x @ 3.9ghz  Board: Asus ROG C6H  Ram: G.Skill TridentZ 32gb 3000mhz  Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic

GPU: Asus ROG Strix GTX 1070 OC in SLI M.2: Samsung 960 Evo 250gb SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 512gb x2 HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3TB and 2TB

PSU: Corsair RM850x White  Cooler: XSPC/Phanteks Custom Loop

Backup System: RedDragonV3.0

FX-8350 @ 4.7ghz, Asus TUF Sabertooth 990fx r3.0, MSI GTX 1060 6gb Gaming X, Crucial Balistix Tracer 32gb, M.2 Samsung 960 Evo 250,

Seagate Firecudda 2tb, Seagate Barracuda 2tb, NZXT S340 Elite White, Kraken X62, Corsair RM750x, Hue+

that is way, way to high temps

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Not for an AMD chip. If I'm not mistaken, TJMax on your chip is 70C as it is...

85 isnt that bad under 100% load on a stress test when playing gta temps stay at around 65

According to the spec sheet, the thermal specification is 70C. Try not to stray overly far above it.

On another note, there's a chance your temperature readings from software may be off (115C?); if so you'll want to get that corrected first.

Download something like HWMonitor and leave it open while playing GTA. When you're done, observe what temperature HWMonitor claims your CPU is hitting. This isn't difficult. If you're provided proof that your CPU's maximum safe temperature is 70c, it's not wise to go beyond it. You shouldn't even be close to it. Clean the case fans. Blow the dust out of your case and CPU heatsink. Invest in some proper case fans and perhaps an aftermarket CPU cooler.

i have 4 good fans  and i regulary dust them out and my pc and it hits 70 degrees when at 3.4 with a boost of 3.7 so the thermal specification cant be true and i do use hardware monitor

I don't know what cooler you're using, but perhaps a fresh application of thermal paste will improve things. Other than that, try lowering the cpu vcore voltage. As long as you're doing proper stress testing to ensure stability, lower voltage will directly result in lower cpu temps.
