If cooling/power consumption were not an issue for any of these setups, which would you choose?

Assume water cooled with full water block and plenty of radiator space.

Cost is not an issue and neither is the SLI/Crossfire software issues.  This is a purely hypothetical situation.

I've roughly equated the setups to the same total cost.

This would be for gaming on a 5760x1080 setup.  No mining or otherwise crazy nonsense.

So if I basically halved this, so a pair of 290s, or a single of any of the others?  What would you say then?

depends, personally id go titans cause id use the double precision and more vram, but if you just want more fps in current games the 780ti's

X79A GD65 (8D), 3820, 7770, 16GB (1600Mhz cas9), 850watt(ocz zx), storm trooper, h100, xonar xense, sp2500, pc350, asus PA248Q LG 22'' ips, razor black-widow ultimate 2013, 120GB intel 520 series 128GB crucial M4 2*3TB barracuda 2*1TB barracuda 2TB Hitachi

okay, your question makes no sense. Hypothetical, and you force us to choose based on gaming. I would have to go 3 780ti there assuming power and $$$ was taken care of.

Personally, I am going to step outside the question and say I would use the 4 290(s) or the 2 titans on a single 4K display, but I don't just game. The double precision of AMD and Titan would help outside of games for me. The pure power of the R9 series would be helpful, but so would the 6GB of the Titan. Can we have a choice for something like 2 K6000 or Firepro S10000 even knowing the price is outrageous for the gaming side of things?

Why doesn't the question make sense?  It's a hypothetical question with arbitrary constraints I put in.

.

I just don't see why you constrained us to gaming choice with a hypothetical question. Games are not the end all of computers you know. Based on games, tri SLI 780ti will own, as will tri 290x or quad 290. Limited to games, you are essentially asking AMD or Nvidia. (When not considering rendering/Mining/Folding/Price/Power AMD looses all of its advantages, and Nvidia looses its negatives.)

Theoritically with constraints from the question it must be the 780ti. In the real world, the 290s are the winners, or even the titan.

So given the choice of any GPU(s) on the planet, for any reason whatsoever what would you pick?

@Sheldon_King

Because I care about gaming, and that's why I constrained it.  Just as I'm asking Recon-UK, what GPU(s) would you pick with no constraints at all?

I understand that you care about gaming. What I am saying is you told us to choose what we would do, and what we may do may not be gaming. I mean, you understand that while a 780ti is faster in gaming, it will get slaughtered by a 290(x) or Titan in rendering, both of which are only marginally slower gaming. Just like you were constraining to eyefinity (3x1080), there may be persons out there that game heavy and choose not to use that setup, and they could be just as hypothetically right as you would be. See what I am saying? Gmaing will perform well across all the choices, but if you do other things like render/fold/mine then the 780ti will be a bad apple for that (no double precision).
